Brainspotting Consultation Services
Brainspotting is a powerful, neurobiologically informed therapeutic approach that accesses the brain’s natural capacity to heal trauma, emotional distress, and performance blocks. Developed by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting works by identifying eye positions that correlate with unprocessed neural activation, allowing deep material to be processed at a nervous-system level rather than solely through cognitive insight. Commonly known as bottom-up approach.
In addition to providing Brainspotting therapy, I offer Brainspotting consultation services who wish to integrate Brainspotting more effectively, ethically, and confidently into their clinical practice.
Consultation may include:
-
Case conceptualization using the Brainspotting frame
-
Review and refinement of Phase 1 and Phase 2 frames
-
Navigating dual attunement and therapist presence
-
Working with trauma, emotional distress, dissociation, shutdown, and performances
-
Ethical and scope-of-practice considerations
-
Preparation for Brainspotting certification
-
Integration of Brainspotting with other therapeutic modalities
Consultation is not about rigid adherence to technique. It is about developing clinical intuition, safety, and responsiveness while honoring the Brainspotting model.
Brainspotting consultation is a collaborative, reflective process designed to support Brainspotting therapists and practitioners at every stage of their Brainspotting journey. Consultation focuses on deepening clinical skill, strengthening attunement, refining technique, and supporting professional growth.

Brainspotting Consultation
Who Consultation Is For
My consultation approach is grounded in the belief that Brainspotting is not simply a technique, but a relational and neurobiological way of listening. Consultation emphasizes therapist presence, dual attunement, pacing, and the clinician’s own nervous-system regulation as central components of effective Brainspotting practice.
I work collaboratively with consultees to:
-
strengthen confidence in Phase 1 and Phase 2 frames
-
refine therapist positioning and attunement
-
navigate complex trauma, developmental trauma, and high-acuity presentations
-
integrate Brainspotting with other modalities while maintaining model integrity
-
prepare clinicians for certification with clarity and organization
Consultation is supportive rather than evaluative and respects each clinician’s unique professional identity, cultural background, and clinical style.

Current Certification Requirements
Brainspotting certification is overseen by Brainspotting Trainings, LLC and reflects internationally recognized standards for competency and ethical practice.
To become a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, clinicians must:
01
Complete Brainspotting Phase 1 and Phase 2
02
Complete at least one approved advanced Brainspotting training (Phase 3, Phase 4, Phase 5, or a Master Class)
03
Document 50 Brainspotting sessions using Phase 1 and Phase 2 setups
04
Complete a minimum of six hours of consultation with the same approved Brainspotting Consultant
05
Submit required documentation, consultant verification, liability coverage, and application materials
*Certification must typically be completed within two years of finishing the final qualifying training.
*Consultation plays a central role in certification by ensuring ethical application, reflective practice, and clinical readiness.
Professional Background and Brainspotting Experience
These trainings were often conducted in multilingual and cross-cultural settings, where I provided live Mandarin Chinese translation to ensure accessibility and fidelity of the Brainspotting model for participants whose primary language was not English. I have supported training delivery across North America, Asia, and other international regions, with particular attention to cultural humility, nervous-system safety, and adaptation without dilution of the Brainspotting frame.
In addition to training support, I have provided ongoing guidance and consultation to newer Brainspotting practitioners, helping them deepen clinical skills, refine technique, and integrate Brainspotting into their existing therapeutic frameworks in an ethical and sustainable manner. All consultation and guidance are aligned with current Brainspotting certification requirements and professional ethical standards.
My Brainspotting work extends beyond clinical practice into training, consultation, and international professional education. I have actively supported the development of Brainspotting practitioners across diverse cultural, linguistic, and clinical contexts.
I have co-facilitated and assisted senior Brainspotting trainers including Lisa Larson, LMFT, Steve Sawyer, LCSW, and Nancy Ng, RN in delivering Brainspotting Phase 1, Phase 2, Expansion, and Digging Roots trainings for international Brainspotting programs and global audiences.
